| Ledra Street opened a pedestrianised crossing point today. It marks a point in our history as Ledras has been closed for decades, I am really optimistic that we will see a resolution. Soldiers have been removed from their points at both sides of the divide and there is free movement, even though you need to still check in at the kiosks. I for one think this is a great step towards the reunification of Cyprus.

It does seem that things are moving quite quickly. A week ago,the road on the Turkish side didn't even have tarmac on it so it's incredible to see what's happened in such a short space of time.
I reserve judgement with regards to whether or not this is the first step towards bringing about an acceptable resolution which both sides will agree to. Nevertheless I think that the opening of Ledra Street is still very positive and a historic event but I wouldn't get too carried away!

Can you believe it. They closed the crossing after just 11 hours! But I think it's been reopened now.
Ra Tallou -told you not to get too carried away!
